Rules can be fun, we promise.

Check out the awesome list of easy, peasy rules we have going on!

Volunteer Guidelines:

General Safety Guidelines

Wear the T-Shirt provided for easy identification among staff and runners. Carry your mobile phone with access to emergency contact numbers. Familiarize yourself with the race course, event layout, and emergency exits with the map provided. Stay hydrated and take breaks as needed- Remember you matter out there too!

First Aid and Emergency Response

Know the location of first aid stations and the nearest medical personnel. This information is listed on the map. Report any injuries or medical emergencies immediately to the Lanette/Race Director or Lindsay/Volunteer Coordinator, or 911/emergency services. Do not attempt medical procedures unless you are certified to do so.

Communication Protocol

Stay in touch with the team with any updates or concerns. Text us! We encourage it. Report any issues, such as injured participants or safety hazards, promptly to Lindsay/Volunteer Coordinator.

Weather & Environmental Hazards

Monitor weather updates and be prepared for sudden changes in conditions. Bring a rain jacket if it’s rainy season; gloves if it’s cold, etc!  Wear the proper shoes for potential hazardous terrain.

Crowd Management

Be prepared to direct any runners towards locations they are seeking. Monitor for and address overcrowding or potentially hazardous situations & immediately notify a CBM member.

Traffic Control (if applicable):

Follow local traffic laws and regulations when managing vehicle flow. Use clear hand signals or signage to direct vehicles and pedestrians safely. Always prioritize personal safety by staying visible and alert.

Equipment Handling

Use caution when setting up or dismantling equipment to avoid injury. Report any faulty or damaged equipment to the Lanette/Race Director or Lindsay/Volunteer Coordinator.

Child & Vulnerable Participant Safety

Ensure minors or vulnerable individuals are accompanied by an adult or guardian. Report any suspicious activity or lost participants to CBM employees  immediately.

Incident Reporting

Document and report any incidents, injuries, or near-misses using the provided forms. Provide accurate details, including time, location, and names of those involved. Submit reports to the Lanette/Race Director or Lindsay/Volunteer Coordinator before leaving the site.

Post Event Procedures

Return any equipment into the proper location before leaving. Check in with Lindsay to let her know you are leaving! Assist in cleanup efforts, ensuring personal safety during the process.
